As
a Highlander Aquatic swimmer, you can expect to be challenged to be the best
that you can be. We believe in
doing what it takes to achieve as high of a level of success as each individual
is determined to achieve.
In working to achieve these goals our training regimen is performance based.
That is, we do not work out for the sake of training but for the purpose
of obtaining special performance related results.
You gotta practice fast, to swim fast!!
We do not believe in doing more than is necessary to attain the highest level of
achievement any more than we believe in doing less than what it takes to achieve
these goals. While we do believe in
demanding training we also believe in keeping it fun within a disciplined
structure, and in enjoying the other activities offered within our own families
and communities.
The Senior groups are for the swimmers who have made a commitment to follow
their group requirements.
Water Equipment Requirements: Swim
bag complete with kickboard, fins, paddles, bouy, goggles, cap.
Dryland and Weightroom Equipment Requirements:
Proper running shoes, shorts and t-shirt.
Senior and Senior Development Teams
The Senior Teams consist of the Lake Highland
Preparatory School Varsity swimmers and Highlander Aquatics swimmers that exhibit a high level of
swimming and workout ability. These swimmers are expected to be mature,
dedicated, responsible, and dependable. Both teams are well-versed in
technique and strategy. They are also a full-fledged training group. Generally,
they have a skill level commensurate with Florida Junior Olympic and Senior
Championship time standards.
This group is a preparation to the National (Elite) group of Highlander Aquatics.
This group is
for the swimmers who have specific achievement goals and have made a commitment
to train in order to accomplish those goals. Stroke mechanics are refined and conditioning levels are increased to prepare
swimmers for future training. Swimmers are expected to start to train
double practices year round and attend all practices each week. Practices
are offered Monday – Friday & Saturday as well as morning practices
throughout the year.
Moving
up
As swimmers improve and age up from one age group to another, they will
be moved up from one group to another as long as they meet the training demands
of that group. It is both the coach’s and swimmer’s decision as to
whether a move to a group with minimum training requirements will be made.
