Seasonal Swim Team Announcements – August 24^th

·         Unfortunately, the weather has not been on our side this week. Thank you for your patience! We are hoping to get back on schedule after this storm system blows over. We will not cancel any practices due to lightning. We must exit the pool when the lightning alarm sounds but we always hope to get back in the water the minute we get the all clear. Swimmers will stay inside the pool building until the “all clear” or until a parent or guardian has picked them up from the pool.

·         Please remember to register your email on our website (this is separate from your registration form). Go to www.highlanderaquatics.org and scroll down to the bottom right hand corner to “Register”. You will create a user name and password to enroll your child on our email list.

·         All medical forms and payments should be returned to the pool office. There is a gray drop box located to the right of the coaches office door. Please feel free to drop your paperwork and payment in there.

·         It looks like our first developmental swim meet will be on Monday, September 19^th. We will send out a detailed schedule and more information next week to confirm our meet dates.

·         Practice reminder: Monday – Thursday at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 pm

Seasonal Swim Team Announcements – August 19^th

·         Thank you for your online registrations for our fall seasonal swim team!

·         Please return your medical form and payment to the pool office on your first day of practice, if you have not done so already. White Group: $175, Green Group: $215. Checks payable to LHPS.

·         Practices are offered Monday – Thursday at 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30 pm. White group will practice for 45 minutes, Green group for 1 hour. We encourage 2 – 3 practice per week.

·         Remember to register your email on our Highlander Aquatics website. Go to www.highlanderaquatics.org, scroll down to the bottom right hand corner of our homepage and click on “Register”. Please register for your child’s group: White OR Green.

• Lake Highland families: Please notify your child’s teacher on the days your child will be attending swim practice. The teachers will send your child to the appropriate place at dismissal time.
• Lake Highland students will be picked up behind the lower school at 3:10 or at the Rock at 3:15 pm.  A coach will escort all swimmers across the parking lot.
• What to bring: Swim suit, goggles, and a towel. Caps are optional. 
• Developmental swim meets will be offered throughout the session, usually on Monday evenings.  All swimmers are encouraged to attend but meets are not required.  Information regarding swim meets will be sent via email and posted on our website.
• We are not responsible for lost items.  Please remind your swimmer to gather all items after practice each day.

·         Lake Highland has several 1:00 early dismissal days in the upcoming weeks. Please review the following practice schedule. We will not be offer the 3:30 practice time on the listed days below.

o   Monday, May 23^rd – 1:30 pm OR 5:30 pm practice (No 3:30 practice time)

o   Tuesday, May 24^th – 1:30 pm or 5:30 pm practice (No 3:30 practice time)

o   Wednesday, May 25^th – 1:30 or 5:30 pm practice (No 3:30 practice time)

o   Thursday, May 26^th – Last day of the spring session – 3:30 or 5:30 practice time

·         Our summer seasonal swim team will start on Monday, June 6^th. You can register online at www.highlanderaquatics.org under the “Summer” tab.

o   June 6^th – July 29^th – 8 week session (No practice on July 4^th)

o   Practices will be offered Monday – Friday mornings from 8:00 – 9:00 am and Monday – Thursday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. We recommend at least 2 – 3 practices per week. Limit of 5.

·         What a FUN week! A developmental meet AND a dual meet with Patriot Aquatics. We had 10 seasonal swimmers represent Highlander this past Saturday – Mariah McClary, Maya McClary, Alessandra Scarpa, Lauren Miller, Kirsten Murphy, Wesley Crownover, Ella Bines, Hanna Barbaree, Macy Akins, and Riley Livengood. Great job swimmers!

·         We have three more developmental meets…mark your calendars!

o   April 18^th - Park Maitland hosting at Winter Park Racquet Club…4:55 warm up 5:30 start

o   May 2^nd - Tuskawilla hosting at Trinity Prep School…5:30 warm-up, 6:00 start

o   May 16^th - The Christ School & Parke House hosting at Lake Highland…5:30 pm warm up, 6:00 start

·         **NEW DAY** Thursday, April 14^th  – Highlander Easter Scavenger Hunt at 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm

o   For the safety of our swimmers, we are changing the scavenger hunt to Thursday. Lake Highland is hosting the district track meet on Wednesday and there will be many visiting families and students on campus.

o   This is sure to be an event to remember! We will split up our team (from seasonal to senior swimmers) into groups and scavenge the Lake Highland campus for clues.

·         Friday, April 29^th – Sunday, May 1^st – Highlander Long Course Invitational

o   For ALL Highlander swimmers

o   Sign up in the white binder in the pool lobby by Monday, April 25^th if you would like to participate.

o   This is a long course meet. Swimmers will swim the 50’s of each stroke.

·         Great job swimmers! We had over 40 swimmers participate in last night’s developmental meet here at Lake Highland.  Thank you to our parent volunteers for timing!! Our next meet is Monday, April 18^th.

o        We encourage all of our seasonal swimmers to participate (or at least come & watch)!!

o        Wear your white Highlander t-shirt.

o        We will need 16 timers to volunteer to help with ribbons and stop watches.

·         Monday, April 4^th is also the last day to sign up for our April 9^th Dual Meet with Patriot Aquatics. Sign up in the white binder in the pool lobby.
